Web accessibility audit services
A web accessibility audit that tells you exactly what to fix
Manual and automated testing of your website against WCAG 2.2 AA, with every issue documented by location, severity and a recommended fix your developers can act on.
Automated scanners are a useful starting point, but they detect only a portion of accessibility problems. They cannot tell you whether a screen reader user can complete your checkout or whether your menu makes sense from the keyboard.
Our audits combine automated scanning with hands-on manual testing by a person using the same assistive technologies your visitors use. The result is a report that explains what is wrong, who it affects and how to fix it.
Scope
What we test
WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria
Your key pages and user journeys are evaluated against the Level A and AA criteria of the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Keyboard-only testing
Navigation, forms, menus, modals and custom components checked for full operation without a mouse.
Screen reader testing
Testing with widely used screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, on desktop and mobile.
Visual and zoom checks
Colour contrast, text resizing, reflow at 400% zoom, target sizes and use of colour to convey meaning.
Forms and transactions
Sign-up, search, contact and checkout flows tested from start to finish, including error states.
Automated scanning
Industry-standard tools used to catch code-level issues at scale and confirm manual findings.
Deliverables
What is in your audit report
Everything is documented in writing, so nothing depends on a conversation someone has to remember.
- An executive summary written in plain language for decision makers
- Every issue listed with its page, component and a screenshot or code reference
- The WCAG success criterion and conformance level for each issue
- A severity rating based on real impact for disabled users
- A recommended fix for each issue, written for developers
- A prioritised roadmap showing what to fix first
Process
How the audit works
Step 1: Scope
We agree a representative sample of pages, templates and user journeys to test.
Step 2: Test
Automated scans are followed by manual keyboard, screen reader and visual testing.
Step 3: Report
Findings are documented, rated and organised so the most serious barriers are addressed first.
Step 4: Walkthrough
We take your team through the report and answer questions before any remediation begins.
FAQ
Web Accessibility Audit: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an automated and a manual accessibility audit?
An automated audit runs software that flags issues it can detect in code, such as missing alternative text or low contrast. A manual audit adds human testing with keyboards and screen readers, which is the only way to check most WCAG criteria and real user journeys.
How many pages do you audit?
We audit a representative sample rather than every URL. It covers each unique template, your most visited pages and the critical journeys such as search, sign-up and checkout. Issues found in shared components usually apply across the whole site.
Which standard do you audit against?
We audit against WCAG 2.2 at Level AA by default. This is the benchmark referenced by most accessibility regulations, including ADA case guidance, Section 508, EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act.
Can you fix the issues you find?
Yes. Our accessibility remediation service takes the audit findings and resolves them in your code, followed by retesting to confirm each fix.
