Mobile accessibility audit and remediation

Mobile accessibility audits and remediation for apps and mobile websites

We test iOS apps, Android apps and mobile websites with VoiceOver, TalkBack and real touch interaction, then fix the barriers we find so your mobile experience works for every user.

Most of your visitors arrive on a phone, and a site that passes on desktop can still fail there. Small touch targets, gestures with no alternative, screens that break when text is enlarged and controls a screen reader cannot name are all problems that only appear on mobile.

Our mobile accessibility service covers both halves of the job. We audit your app or mobile website on real devices with the assistive technology built into iOS and Android, and we remediate the issues so the fixes reach your users.

Scope

What our mobile accessibility service covers

  • Mobile screen reader testing

Every key screen and journey tested with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android, checking names, roles, states, reading order and focus.

  • Touch targets and gestures

Target sizes and spacing checked against WCAG 2.2, with single-tap alternatives confirmed for swipes, drags and multi-finger gestures.

  • Text scaling and reflow

Layouts tested with large system font sizes and zoom so content stays readable without clipping, overlap or horizontal scrolling.

  • Orientation and display settings

Portrait and landscape support, colour contrast, dark mode and reduced-motion preferences reviewed on each platform.

  • Forms, keyboards and input

Correct keyboard types, visible labels, autofill, error messages and support for external keyboards and switch access.

  • Mobile remediation

Issues fixed in your mobile website or app code, using each platform's native accessibility features rather than workarounds, and retested on devices.

Deliverables

What you receive

Everything is documented in writing, so nothing depends on a conversation someone has to remember.

  • A mobile audit report listing each issue by screen, platform and component
  • The WCAG 2.2 success criterion and a severity rating for every issue
  • Screenshots or screen recordings showing how each barrier affects users
  • Platform-specific fix recommendations for iOS, Android and mobile web
  • Remediated code, retested with VoiceOver and TalkBack
  • A summary of what was fixed and what your team should monitor in future releases

Process

How mobile audit and remediation works

  1. Step 1: Scope

We agree the platforms, devices, screens and user journeys to be covered.

  2. Step 2: Audit

We test on real iOS and Android devices with screen readers, large text and other accessibility settings.

  3. Step 3: Remediate

Issues are fixed in priority order, starting with the barriers that block users completely.

  4. Step 4: Retest

Every fix is verified on device and documented before handover.

FAQ

Mobile Accessibility: frequently asked questions

How is mobile accessibility different from website accessibility?

The same WCAG principles apply, but mobile adds its own challenges: touch targets, gestures, screen orientation, system text sizes and different screen readers. A site or app has to be tested on mobile devices to find these issues.

Do you test native apps or only mobile websites?

Both. We audit native iOS and Android apps, hybrid apps and mobile websites, including Shopify storefronts viewed on a phone.

Which assistive technologies do you test with?

We test with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android, along with built-in settings such as larger text, zoom, colour filters, reduced motion and external keyboard or switch access.

Can you fix the issues as well as report them?

Yes. This service includes remediation. We resolve the issues in your mobile website or app code and retest each fix on real devices. If your own developers prefer to do the work, the report gives them platform-specific guidance.
